February 2012. My (independent) music blog has reached 10,000 hits this week! I’m very grateful for all who’ve come over and enjoy reading my posts. An especially big hello to those from Russia and other far away places who also love music. I hope you enjoy Scottish music too! My passion is for good music and is what motivates me with my writing and photography. It is the music that makes me want to travel miles and spend hours processing photos. The Music that inspires ….
I grew up in Edinburgh and now live north of Glasgow (as well as living ten years in the States) - which I hope gives me unique perspectives. I started my Blog in 2007 with a few reviews and in 2011 I started to take my music blog here more seriously. I am writer, artist and musician. I read mostly music related books and articles.
I attend Celtic Connections Glasgow each January and Edinburgh Book festival in August, as my two main events. The rest of the year my main interest is in new artists coming up, plus more established ones too.
* Celtic Connections Glasgowis a fine festival that produced some outstanding musical collaborations - that includes Jerry Douglas, Aly Bain, Dick Gaughan, Rab Noakes, Eddi Reader and many artists worldwide.
* Edinburgh Book festival is such a unique experience to photo all those respected writers, poets, journalists, politicians, novelists, and more.
* Photos and promotions for Scottish singer songwriter *Emeli Sande since 2007 and it's been huge thrill and honour to see all her successes in 2012 with her wonderful debut album Our Version of Events! I took photos at her Royal Albert hall concert and it was a big honour to be there.
*I’m also thrilled for Paisley lad *David Sneddon, (Hurts, Lana Del Rey) whose career I’ve followed since 2003, and who has established himself as a songwriter and producer of note in London. (pun intended!)
*I also take photos of the quality musicians at Milngavie Folk club, while 'folk music' at times needs to shake itself up? Still tradition and heritage matter so much. The past year my main focus has been my writing work (some on blogs) for which I hope my book may be evolving… I live with dreams and hopes…
