*My Photography 2016*

I am continually inspired by B & W images and by my favourite portrait photographers –
enjoying late sun on the south bank

Sometimes colour works better though and some images just don’t translate into B & W.  But for me the B & W photography has more impact if you can capture enough subtle tones, and contrast.

My top B & W images recently are from travelling to Fife coastal walks and on my favourite London walks and the buzz on the south bank and across the Thames from Westminster.

My Top images from Celtic 2016 were of Blazin Fiddles, Rura and Karine Polwart.

The festival offers an informed blend of the old and new where the retro and the modern sit side by side here - imaginative fantasy with factual history, romantic poetry and detailed economy, the surreal novel, the researched biography alongside hard hitting political thought. The festival allows all voices a platform to be heard and to exchange ideas and aspirations and celebrates diversity of thought.

In Edinburgh the windy weather can be often dramatic - one moment brilliant sunshine the next torrential downpour for an hour. It keeps us alert for sure! I watch the sun on the elegant Georgian new town with the dark skies beyond.

Black and White Music Photography

Head and Heart
I try to mix the old with the new and capture moods such as quiet moments of inner reflection. One of my interests is images of new artists and several of those I've photographed are now signed to major labels -  Emeli Sande, Hurts, Mumford, Metronomy, Broken Records,The Low Anthem, King Creoste... My favourite photographers are Mario Testino, Eve Arnold, David Bailey.  http://pkimage.co.uk/
